Start Where You Are
I’ve been wanting to start writing again for months, even years. It’s one of those things I say I’ll do when the time is right.
But like many things, the right timing never comes unless you commit to the present moment. Life responds positively when you trust where you are and take action from there.
This is partly why I am writing today. An accountability towards myself and the desire in my heart.
The other part is to contribute with something that is meaningful and touches other people’s hearts.
Writing has always been for me a tool of transformation, whether personally or shared.
I’m creating a Substack where I’ll be writing weekly about the journey to authenticity — what it means to me personally, as one attempting it, and also some of the tools and insights picked up on the way.
It is hard to express ourselves vulnerably online. I believe the reason is that everything is geared to creating an image of perfection and maintaining it.
Yet, our humanity, especially our weaknesses, is what makes us relate to one another. It’s not the idealized images we create.
Writing from the heart often means not knowing exactly what you are going to write. It’s allowing words and intentions to express themselves and flow through you.
As I start writing again here, there is bound to be some fears come up. What will people think? Is this going to help anyone?
Truth be told, I don’t know the answer to these questions, nor do I have any control over them.
The only thing I can do is show up and practice my craft. Let my heart open on a blank piece of paper and let it happen as it is.
I’ve spent many years waiting to have it all figured out before I start. As a writer, a coach, a creator, a partner…
There’s a trap in working on yourself. There’s a possibility that you’ll never be ready.
So as you read this, I encourage you to reflect on something you’ve wanted to do for a long time but where you haven’t made the jump.
It can be as small as writing a page of your book. Or doing a workout.
Anything that you’ve been waiting to be ready for — waiting for the right time.
Why not start where you are and see what happens?
The key to growth is not talent, it is consistency. Your willingness to show up makes the entire difference in your potential future.
So as I am committing to writing again, I also encourage you to find one thing that you’ve been putting on hold.
Do it today. Take one step in that direction. And do the same tomorrow.
And before you jump ship again, give yourself some time.
Growth happens when we are consistent with what matters to us.
Decide your time frame, your process, and commit to it.
If you want to follow the journey forward, you can join my Substack.
I’ll see you soon over there!
With love and gratitude,
Alex
PS: This first post is likely to be far from perfect. I could wait to get it exactly as I want it, but then, the likelihood of not publishing anything will increase. The more we wait, the harder it gets. Here’s to do doing, rather than waiting 😉
